Born in Europa and raised in Mexico City, Missionary Victor Guzman found the Lord while a college student in Mexico. He felt God’s call to the ministry and determined to prepare himself at the Missionary Baptist Seminary in Little Rock, starting there in 1964 and becoming a member and involved at Unity Baptist Church. After finishing his studies and some deputation work, he began his pioneering mission work in Mexico City in January of 1969. He led his first church to organization in La Quebrada in 1975 and today more than 30 churches and missions have resulted from this original church. Currently, he is the pastor of Shalom Missionary Baptist Church in Saltillo, Mexico, the capitol city of the state of Coahuila in northern Mexico, 200 miles southwest of Laredo, TX. In 2014 Brother Guzman and Unity are celebrating 50 years of partnership. Brother Guzman received an honorary Doctorate in Missions from the Missionary Baptist Seminary in 2006.
The Lord blessed Brother Guzman with a wonderful wife, Isabel, whom he wed in 1969, and the couple has two grown children: Daniel – and engineer with wife, Andrea and two children, and Petit Gonzalez, wife of Missionary Adolfo Gonzalez in Leon, Mexico, and their son, Pablo.
